How to book for a Rwanda Gorilla Permit

Rwanda is one of the three countries in the world to host the endangered mountain gorillas the other two are Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorilla tracking is known as the number one safari activity incomparable enjoyed by very many travelers who jet into Rwanda to track these few endangered mountain gorillas, over 80% of travelers to Rwanda are considered to visit Rwanda purposely to track mountain gorillas. 
However for anyone to be among the eight members allowed to track gorillas in their natural habitat, he/ she must own a valid gorilla tracking permit.
Many tourists worldwide are asking how they can access these permits and how best and quick they can get them. 

However also, Gorilla permits can be booked at the RDB Tourism and Conservation Reservation Office. Permits are sold at a fee of $1,500 per person and the price includes park entrance fee and ranger guide fee.
Possession of a gorilla permit is a guarantee for tracking however it’s not a guarantee for sighting although chances of sighting are 97% and above, so just book your gorilla permit in time to be assured of gorilla tracking. 
Permits are sold on first come first served basis the earlier the better. And you are advised to book your gorilla permit from a recognized tour and Travel Company or a tour agent since they have easy access to these permits than an individual. They are given first priority of buying and selling permits


Mountain gorillas of Rwanda are found in Volcanoes National Park in the northern part of Rwanda in Musanze district just about 2 hours’ drive from the capital Kigali. The procedures on how to book gorilla permits apply to all counties where gorillas are hosted. If you are interested in gorilla tracking send us an inquiry  on info@gorwandasafaris.com indicating your travel days and year, you are also advised to indicate the days you would like to see the gorillas so that we can arrange and book for you the gorilla permit for you on that particular date.

Once the gorilla permits are available on that specific date, we will send you bank details on which you will send the money for booking the gorilla permits, although we have other methods of payments including credit card, visa card pesapal, so you will advise the method of payment convenient for you.

The money may take between 12-16 hours from your bank to our bank, and then after getting the money we will pay for your gorilla tracking permits, bank wire transfer adds 20Usd of the total amount. 

We will send you a scanned copy of the gorilla permit to prove that we received and booked your gorilla permits

We will then request you to send us your passport details including your full name, nationality and the passport number. Once we obtain the gorilla permit we will then send you a scanned copy through our email confirming that you will be among the eight members per group to track the gorillas on that specified day.

Then after getting that information we will check and see whether the gorilla permits are available on that specific date of tracking. And if permits are available we will go ahead and book them for you and if they are not available we will advise accordingly.
